Perry Roberts – wallwork consisting of words. Roberts refers to himself as an artist who stops where painters are usually expected to begin, leaving us with surfaces for reflection. Literally, his works allude to those of other artists, particularly Modernists such as Donald Judd and Ad Reinhardt, to pieces of furniture and to component parts of architectural structures. Metaphorically, the layered structure of superimposition and compartmentalizing involved in these works provides an analogy for processes of human thought and communication. (Jonathan Watkins).
